Privacy policy

Updated October 24, 2026

This policy explains the information Debrief uses and the controls available to you.

Website analytics

Only if you accept website analytics do we load Google Analytics to measure public page visits and actions such as opening the map, visiting a school website or clicking through to the App Store. These clicks do not represent an enrolment or installation.

We do not send typed searches, coordinates, email addresses or place identifiers to this measurement. Page URLs exclude query parameters and fragments, and private pages are not measured. Change your choice using Web privacy. Advertising and ad personalization remain disabled.

Your account and records

We process the information you provide when creating your account and completing your profile, such as your name, email, photo, role, licences and home base. Saved rosters, logbook entries, courses and plans may sync with your account to provide app features.

Posts, photos, notes and messages you share are processed to deliver them to their audience. You can manage visibility and audiences in the Privacy Centre.

Location and community

With your permission, we use location and recorded trips for nearby features, Crew Hub and layover matches. Incognito removes your social presence; it does not change iOS location permissions or erase your history.

You can change location permission in iOS Settings. The air traffic widget may query OpenSky about the area shown on the map.

Documents and certificates

Scanned document and certificate files are stored locally in the current version. Associated data, such as titles, dates, categories and licence links, may form part of your account records. Saving a local file does not guarantee that it can be recovered on another device.

Server file recovery is not enabled by default. The existence of that technical capability does not mean all your scans have a cloud backup.

Apple Health and Recovery

If you grant access, Debrief reads sleep and activity data from Apple Health to adjust Recovery estimates and recommendations. You can revoke access in Health or iOS Settings.

Health data is read on your device. Saved plans, their results and rest information you enter may sync with your account. We do not use Health data for advertising.

Services that support the app

We use Apple and Google/Firebase services for sign-in, storage, notifications and app functionality. We also collect product interactions, installation and notification identifiers, approximate location and purchase events to operate and improve the app. Your friends list and selected audiences support community features. Apple manages iOS subscriptions; Debrief does not receive your full card number.

Recommendations may feature businesses labelled Partner Business. That label does not make your documents, Health data or private messages available to those businesses.

Deleting your account

You can request deletion in Profile > Settings > Delete Account. After account deletion is confirmed, cleanup of associated personal data begins. Server processes may need to retry after a temporary failure.

Messages and other shared records require separate handling; we do not promise to remove copies kept by other people. Files or events you have exported to other apps are not automatically removed either. Contact us if you need help removing content or exercising your data rights.
